The 60-Second Scalp Routine That Makes Every Wash Count
You already wash your hair. This one-minute change turns that habit into real scalp care, step by step.

Here's a secret most hair-care brands won't tell you: how you wash matters as much as what you wash with. Most of us lather for ten seconds and rinse. Slowing down for just one minute at the scalp is the simplest upgrade there is, and it costs you nothing but sixty seconds.
Step 1: Wet your hair thoroughly
Let warm (not hot) water run through your hair for a good 30 seconds. Fully wet hair lathers better, so you'll need less shampoo.
Step 2: Start at the scalp, not the ends
Put a small amount of shampoo in your palm and apply it directly to your scalp, section by section: the crown, the part, the sides and the nape. The lather that runs down as you rinse is enough to clean your lengths.
Step 3: Massage for a full 60 seconds
This is the step that does the work. Use the pads of your fingertips, never your nails, and move in small, slow circles. Work from your hairline back to the crown, then down to the nape. Count it out; most people stop after ten seconds and wonder why nothing changes.
Sixty seconds at the roots. That's the whole change.
Step 4: Rinse well
Rinse until your hair squeaks a little. Leftover product is exactly the kind of buildup you're trying to remove.
Step 5: Condition the lengths only
Gently squeeze the water out, then apply conditioner from mid-length to ends. Keep it off the scalp so you don't put back what you just washed away. Leave it on for a minute or two, comb through with your fingers, then rinse.
Step 6: Between washes
On the days you don't wash, a light, leave-in rosemary scalp spray keeps the routine going in about thirty seconds: part your hair, mist the scalp, massage it in, done.
How often?
Most women do best washing two to four times a week, depending on hair type. What matters more than the number is doing it the same way, every time.
What to expect
- Day one: a scalp that feels clean and refreshed.
- A few weeks in: less buildup, softer hair and, ideally, less breakage.
- Two to three months: enough time to judge the difference in your length.
It isn't a miracle, it's a habit. And habits are what actually change your hair.
